Women’s Empowerment Through Music
Connexionarts authored Women’s Empowerment Through Music, a learning module for high school students, commemorating the centenary of women’s right to vote in Canada. Commissioned by the Coalition for Music Education, the four units of study are provided to help teachers and students investigate the ways in which music has been present in the lives of Canadian women, often as an expression of social justice.
The publication includes lesson plans, primary source historical materials, music excerpts and a catalogue with an extensive listing of Canadian female performers, composers, music educators and activists. Use of the catalogue is embedded in the lesson plans, providing student opportunities for research.
